Milimos Saga – The Reincarnation Chronicle of the Youngest Prince. C68

Chapter 68: To the Royal Castle

As evening descended, my family and I made our way smoothly along the rooftops towards the central Hofsta Royal Castle. However, we were spotted by soldiers on the ground just a little further ahead.

"Suspicious individuals are running on top of the buildings!"

Realizing we had been exposed by that voice, we couldn't afford to stop now. We had to keep running!

"Family!"

"Prince Millimos, I will increase our speed."

It seemed Famiris had the same idea as me, and we simultaneously pushed our running speed to the limit. With each step we took, the dry brick roofs of the buildings cracked beneath us, but we couldn't afford to be distracted.

That's because the soldiers on the ground below were throwing stones at us.

"Their target is the Royal Castle! Stop them, even if it means throwing stones!"

"Anyone with a bow and arrows nearby, surrender them to us!"

The soldiers on the path reported the situation one after another while picking up stones from the ground and hurling them at us.

However, due to the dense houses and the narrowness of the path, the number of stones flying towards us wasn't too great. Even if they tried to shoot us with bows and arrows, it seemed difficult to line up a clear shot.

If we continued like this, we would reach the Royal Castle—

"But, this is their stronghold, so it won't be that easy."

Soldiers were climbing onto the roofs of the buildings ahead of us. They held various types of swords in their hands: hook-like daggers, swords with wavering blade shapes like "~", and cross-curved swords with blades on both sides resembling "メ", and more.

I had seen some of those weapons before. They were products of weapon-making orders I had taken in the Rocha region.

I had forgotten that selling weapons to other countries meant there was a possibility they could be used against me.

"Even though you bought these with such care, I'm sorry!"

I dispelled the sacred art from my arm, channeled magic into my magic sword, and activated magic on the blade. With the sharpened edge, I broke the soldiers' weapons and then tackled them to the ground below.

Famiris, on the other hand, swung her sword toward the soldiers, using the pressure from her sword to blow them away.

Just as we easily broke through, new soldiers appeared in our path.

"Step aside! You'll get hurt!"

"If you obstruct us, we won't show mercy!"

When we boldly proclaimed this, the new soldiers seemed hesitant, perhaps having watched our battle with the previous group. Judging from how they glanced at my magic sword before clutching their weapons protectively, it seemed they didn't want their weapons to be destroyed.

I recalled the cost of custom-made weapon production in the Rocha region, and it was understandable. It wasn't the price of everyday weapons but rather an amount of money one would pay for a rare piece of art that was rarely obtainable.

In any case, if they didn't intend to stand in our way, we would proceed.

While the soldiers hesitated, Famiris and I passed through them. The soldiers who had been surrounded began shouting loudly, as if they were trying to justify themselves to someone not present.

"Hey, pursue them! Don't let them escape!"

"We can't catch up with that speed! Let's just wait in front of the Royal Castle!"

"Blow the whistle! Alert the castle guards!"

The sound of whistling started to echo.

Listening to that sound, I turned my gaze to the Royal Castle, which was getting closer. Soldiers, apparently responding to the whistle, hurriedly emerged from the castle gate and began constructing a spear hedgehog with their spears. Moreover, they kindly lowered the lattice door on the gate after releasing the soldiers.

I felt annoyed that it would take time to bypass both of them, and Famiris spoke up.

"Prince Millimos, I will run on the walls and climb up to the castle walls."

"Don't assume I can do it. I've never done something like that."

"It's easy to do. Place your foot on the protrusion of the castle wall, flow sacred art into the outer wall with the feeling of applying sacred art to a wooden sword in training, and use your leg strength to move your body upward naturally."

"You're asking the impossible. But if I do it like climbing a tree, can I manage?"

I maximized the output of sacred art as much as possible, kicked the edge of the building's roof to leap, and felt the sensation and sound of the sun-dried bricks shattering beneath me. As I passed over the soldiers with their spears, I used my magic sword to destroy their weapons and then knocked them down to the ground below.

"While I'm at it, I should have reinforced the neck more," I muttered to myself as my neck drooped when I landed. It seemed my neck had gotten into a situation akin to a slight muscle strain due to the impact of the landing.

I placed my hand on the back of my neck, rotated it to relax the muscles, and then turned to the people in luxurious clothing in front of me—the Ambitoss royal family, presumably. Although I couldn't see their faces because they were wearing helmets, their demeanor made it clear.

"Allow me to introduce myself to the Ambitoss royal family. Good evening. I am Millimos Nonette. I've come to avenge Prince Spelbyard. Shall we settle it with a one-on-one duel?"

Even after I finished my speech, the Ambitoss royal family members remained stunned and didn't make any moves.

  1. Thanks for the chapter
BTW, some paragraphs are double, starting from Milimos talking 'bout using the sacred art as similar to the way he climb a tree
