Chapter 77: Nonette enters home country
The journey, protected by soldiers, passed uneventfully, and they passed through a tunnel in the mountains and entered the forest of Nonette's home country.
The roads are well-maintained, and there is a straight path through the cleared forest. As expected, it was a field road with cobblestones, not paved, and the soil was compacted.
Even so, the temperature is cool even though it's summer, probably because of the difference in elevation.
Atenza and Giverde, who are from the desert and are used to the heat, seem to be cold, so they wrap themselves in cape-like cloth that they had brought with them to protect themselves from the cold desert nights.
On the other hand, Princess Palvera was riding along with her family on Neroteora, squinting her eyes as if she liked the coolness. When I met her, she seemed like a timid girl, but lately she seems to have a thicker heart.
As she stared at me, Princess Pulvera seemed to notice that I was observing her, and she gave me an embarrassed look.
"What, Milimos-kun? Is there any dust in her hair?"
She seemed to have misunderstood the meaning of my gaze, and she began to lightly comb her pink hair with her hands, perhaps trying to remove the dirt.
I gesture that I'm wrong and make a bland excuse.
``I've been on the same horse as Princess Pulvera before, but I just thought we'd never run down the road side by side with her horses like this.''
“Come to think of it, I guess so.”
It seems that my deception was not enough, and Princess Palvera continues to worry about whether there is any dirt on her hair.
Then, family members joined the conversation.
"There is no dirt on Princess Pulbella's hair. I'm sure Prince Milimos was captivated by Princess Pulbella's beauty as it began to shine in the sunlight when she emerged from the dark mine shaft into a bright place."
The family members glared at me as if to say, ``Let's talk.''
And Princess Pulvera seemed to believe most of what the family was saying, and she was looking at them expectantly.
I was lost in thought for a moment, and since it's true that Princess Pulvera is beautiful, she comes to the conclusion that it's okay to take over her.
"That's right. I also think that Princess Pulvera has become more beautiful recently than when I met her."
As I felt earlier, the change in Princess Palvera's heart that has become thicker seems to have led to her becoming even more attractive.
When I told her my honest evaluation, Princess Pulvera's face turned vermilion. I'm sure it's because of the embarrassment of being praised.
"Well, Milimos-kun is already very good at talking."
Princess Pulvera's loose smile showed that she was shy but not shy.
If she's going to make me happy like this, I guess I'll just pay lip service to her. As I was thinking about this, I received a sharp look from my family.
"Prince Milimos. Please don't get carried away."
She was the one who told me to talk to her, and even though Princess Pulvera was happy, I couldn't help but feel unfaithful.
As we were talking along the way, Nonette's welcome from her home country appeared at the end of the road.
It was about twenty soldiers, and at the head of them stood Alectem, who was my guard.
We stopped at a distance of about five meters from them, and when we dismounted from the horseback or Kamyu-ho-ho, Alectem and the others approached us.
"Prince Milimos, Princess Parvera, and Family, it's been a long time since we last met. And everyone else who has set foot on our land for the first time. On behalf of Nonette Field Marshal Alektem and King Cholex, I would like to welcome you. Here we go!”
In response to Alectem's words, each of them made a gesture to show their gratitude.
Among them, Duerefa came forward.
"It's my first time to meet you, Lord Alectem. My name is Duerefa, and I come from the country of Sposato."
"That name. By any chance, are you Solerina-sama's husband?"
"That's right. At the recommendation of Prince Milimos, I have decided to attend his wife's birth. At the same time, I have a request to make to King Nonette."
"Hmm. Prince Mirimos and Princess Pulvera have set up an audience with us to hear about the outcome of this war. I promise to make arrangements for you to participate at that time."
"I appreciate that. Thank you very much."
Alektem and Duerefa shake hands after exchanging light greetings and diplomacy.
Seeing how friendly the two were, I looked at them a little. The first thing I look at is the soldiers behind Alectem.
There were people with scars from the battle with Mendacium, people who seemed to have brought back reserve personnel, and unfamiliar faces---new recruits.
Then there were Sarcasimo and Vishka, who were given a six-month training period as a test to be given the rank of marshal.
Aside from Vishka, I'm a little surprised that Salkajimo has remained intact even after all the training he's been through since spring. As for the attitude of these two people, they have the attitude of soldiers. Alektem must have given Sarcasimo a hard time because he looked like a soldier.
I'm curious about which of the two will get the rank of marshal, but what I should be concerned about now is what they'll say in the audience with King Chorex.
Even though this war has been fought again, I have to be prepared for something to be said before I win the war and acquire new territory.
Hopefully, I won't be told to rule a new territory as well.
