I Was Reincarnated as a Commoner. I Can’t Stand Living Like This, so I’ll Become an Aristocrat! C93

Chapter 93: registered at the Central Church

After trying out spatial magic, I met up with Lucien and immediately returned to the mansion. And the next day after school.

I'm not going to the study group today, but I'm planning to rent a food stall at the central church, get the right to sell it, gather the ingredients, and make a prototype of crepes.

I'm currently in the carriage that left the Royal School, but for some reason Lucien is also with me. Since I was going home without going to the research meeting today, I said I would just walk home instead of taking the carriage, but Lucien also told me that he would go home with me and go shopping with me, so I couldn't refuse. I don't think it would be fun to have Lucien around, but is that okay?

"Is it really a good thing that Lucien is going home? He's going to the central church, bank, and store, so he's busy and I don't think it's fun."

"It's fun to be with Leon! Everything Leon does is new and fun."

"Well, that would be fine..."

I don't think I'm doing anything new. Well, I hope you're enjoying it.

“So, what kind of materials do we need?”

Hmm, to run a food stall, you first need cooking utensils. To make crepes, you need to fry the skin on a griddle, so you'll need a griddle and a ladle. Actually, you should have a tool to roll out the dough into a round shape, but if you don't have one, you can use a ladle instead.

You'll also need a spatula to turn the food over, and a bowl to make the dough. You'll also need a cutting board and a knife to make the crepes.

Also, it depends on what you do with the contents of the crepe. For now, I'm thinking of having one type of side dish crepe and one type of sweet crepe. I thought about making more varieties, but stalls generally only sell one thing, so I think it would be better if we didn't add too many.

If possible, I'd like to make mayonnaise or something similar, so I'll also need a bowl and a whisk. Is there a whisk? If you don't have one, use a fork instead. You'll also need a frying pan. Also, it would be useful to have a spoon for serving dishes.

That's about it for now... I'll just buy whatever I can think of today, and if I don't have enough, I can buy it with Ronnie on the day I recover.

``For now, the cooking utensils are a griddle, a frying pan, a ladle, a spatula, a few bowls, a cutting board, a knife, a whisk, and a spoon. If I don't have enough, I'll buy more.''

"I guess we need quite a bit. What about the ingredients?"

As for the ingredients... side dish crepes are easy. The plan is to grill the pork with salt and pair it with seasonal fresh vegetables and mayonnaise. However, there is a problem with whether you can make mayonnaise, but if you try various things, you should be able to make something like that! If I remember correctly, it's eggs, salt, oil, and vinegar? Is it sugar? You just have to mix that part together well. I should be able to do it...maybe.

The problem is the sweet crepe. If you don't carefully consider the materials, the cost will inevitably increase. The things that come to mind for sale in this world are sugar, fruit, honey, and maple syrup.

However, fruits don't seem to be grown in large quantities and are quite expensive, and maple syrup seems to be an imported product and is only occasionally seen.

That being said, honey and sugar...these two are expensive, but not that expensive, and are commonly sold in the downtown area and surrounding markets.

Hmm, now that I think about it, you can also buy butter in the downtown area. Then honey butter sounds delicious!

Let's go with that for now. It's okay to just have crepes as a side dish without worrying too much about sweet crepes, but for some reason I don't like it when crepe shops don't have sweet crepes...well, if they don't sell, I'll stop selling them right away. At that time, I think I'll increase the variety of side dish crepes.

Okay, all that's left is the crepe batter. The dough is...flour, eggs, and sugar? I think the crepe batter was a little sweet. For now, if you have flour, eggs, and sugar, you should be able to make it into a shape! I really want milk, but I can't get it easily, so I guess I'll use water instead. When I made the pancakes before, they took shape, so I guess it's okay.

"Ingredients are flour, eggs, sugar, honey, butter, pork, vegetables, oil, salt, and vinegar. I think this will do it."

"You'll need quite a few things. You'll try making them when you get home today, okay?"

"Yeah, that's right."

“I want to eat it too!”

"Of course. I'd like other people to try it too. Is that okay?"

"I'm sure it's great! Your grandmother was really looking forward to it."

“You have to try hard for that.”

While talking like that, we arrived at the central church. This is my first time coming this close, but it's a really big building.

"Then I'll go. Will Lucien go too?"

"Ah, I have no time to stay in the carriage, so I'll go with you."

"Then let's go."

I enter the central church with Lucien. The entrance to the central church is a large door that seems to be left open. I thought it was a prayer room inside, but there were many reception desks like a Japanese city hall. Isn't this a church?

“It doesn’t look like a church.”

When I said that in a low voice that Lucien could hear, Lucien looked strange.

"Really? For me, this is church..."

"Is that so? Is the church in the capital also like this?"

"Ah, it's smaller than this one, but the construction is the same."

The church near my house mainly had a prayer room that I imagined. Does that mean important parts are being renovated to look like city hall? It's true that if you have an administrative role, it would be inconvenient to live in a prayer room.

I take a look around inside. It's quite spacious, and it seems like the reception areas are separated depending on the purpose. There's a sign at the far end that says ``This is the prayer room,'' so it looks like there's a prayer room in the back as well.

I went to the business-related reception desk and spoke to the vacant reception desk.

"Hello. I would like to have the right to sell a food stall and rent a food stall. Is this the right reception?"

"Yes. We will take care of the formalities here. Now, could you please fill out this and this document?"

"yes"

The documents were simple; all I had to write was my name, age, and place of residence.

"Would this be ok?"

“Yes, we will handle the process for you.The right to sell a food stall must be renewed every year, and you will be required to pay one silver coin each time.Today, the initial registration fee is three silver coins. The loan is renewed every six months, and the loan fee is five silver coins for every six months.''

Isn't it that expensive...? No, there are many poor people among commoners who run food stalls, so considering that, it's quite expensive. Maybe the prices differ depending on the square. I set up my food stall in the plaza at the entrance to the city center, so it might be expensive.

“Today we have a total of eight silver coins.”

"Yes. This please."

I handed over exactly eight silver coins. It was pretty close... I have to go to the bank.

I mean, it's hard to start a food stall if you don't have the capital. Come to think of it, among the many stalls in the plaza, there were people selling things from only cloth spread on the ground or wooden tables.

Maybe those people are the ones who can't rent a food stall.

"I have indeed received it. This is the stall sales license, and this is the stall rental certificate. Basically, you can sell anything at the stall, but please be careful as anything that violates the law is prohibited. Also, if there is any damage to the stall, you will be liable for damages, so please use it with care.Do you have any other questions?

"Well... is there a well that I can use?"

"There are. There are two wells in the square, so please use the one you like."

"Thank you. I can't think of anything else right now, so if you have any questions, can I come back and ask again?"

"Yes. Please come any time."

That's how the registration went smoothly. After that, I first went to the bank and had the ten platinum coins turned into gold, silver, and other fine coins and withdrawn. When converted into Japanese yen, it's about 10 million yen, so I feel like I've become very rich all at once. It's kind of scary.

To prevent it from being stolen, I pretended to put it in my bag and put it in my item box. This will give me peace of mind for a while.

Okay! Next is finally shopping.
