Chapter 94: Shopping in the city center
“Lucien, where is the most efficient place to go shopping?”
"That's right... there's a trading company that the Duke Townsend family always uses for cooking utensils, so you should go there. Isn't it faster to go to the market for ingredients?"
"Thank you! Then, can we start with the company?"
"That's right. We should go first since they're close by."
Lucien immediately told the coachman his destination. Then, after about five minutes of being rocked by a horse-drawn carriage, we arrived at the company.
When we got off the carriage and entered the building, an employee near the entrance took care of us, and an employee at the back of the store went into the back.
Did you go to call someone?
"Mr. Lucien Townsend, it is an honor to have you here. I apologize for the inconvenience, but could you please introduce me to you?"
"Ah, this is Leon, a guest at my house. I'll be accompanying Leon when he goes shopping today."
That's amazing. Can you tell about Lucien just by looking at his face? It hasn't been that long since Lucien started living in the royal capital. I don't have any photos of him, so I wonder if he'll be able to remember him by drawing? Or maybe there's a casual meet-and-greet?
"Thank you. Leon-sama, it's my first time to meet you. My name is Lucas from the Schusegl Chamber of Commerce."
“My name is Leon, and I am indebted to the Duke Townsend family. Thank you.”
Just as I finished greeting him, the employee who had just entered the back brought in his middle-aged uncle. He seems like a kind person, but he's also kind of strict.
“Lucien-sama, it is an honor for you to visit our store. Léon-sama, this is your first time meeting us. My name is Ghislain, the chairman of the Chessegle Company.”
When did you hear my name? Did you hear the conversation earlier?
In fact, the whole process after entering the store is very smart and cool. I'm jealous of the talented employees and president.
I thought I would become a salaryman and do my best in Japan, but I couldn't get a job...It makes me sad.
“My name is Leon, and I am indebted to the Duke Townsend family. Thank you.”
"Thank you very much. What kind of business do you have today?"
"Yes. I would like to start a food stall and would like some cooking utensils for that purpose."
"I'm sorry. We have a lot of cooking utensils. Please come here. Lucien-sama, would you like to take a look with me? I could show you to the reception room, but..."
“I’ll watch it with you.”
"I'm fine. Now, Lucien-sama, come here as well."
Then I was guided to a corner at the back of the store. amazing! There's quite a lot of cooking utensils. This is exciting.
"Have you decided what kind of cooking utensils you want?"
"Yes. I would like a griddle, a frying pan, a ladle, a spatula, a few bowls, a cutting board, a knife, a whisk, and a spoon."
"Okay. First, let's start with the iron plate. There are three different sizes..."
After this, I carefully considered and selected all the cooking utensils I needed, and it took a lot of time. It may have taken more than 30 minutes...but I was able to buy something good!
The iron plate was large enough to bake two crepes. Once you get used to it, you can try baking two pieces at the same time, or use one to warm up the baked skin. The shape of the whisk was different, but I was able to buy something similar. I also chose other items that were easy to use and seemed durable. I was able to make a really good purchase.
"Thank you very much for today. Please come again."
"Yes. If you need cooking utensils again, we will contact you."
"We'll be expecting you"
I paid and returned to the carriage with Lucien. Huh, I'm a little tired. The inside of the carriage is full of the cooking utensils I bought.
“Lucien, I’m sorry it took so long.”
"I had fun too, so it's okay."
“I see, that would be great.”
I was relieved and couldn't help but smile. Halfway through, I felt sorry for Lucien for keeping him waiting.
that? Now that I think about it, you can't leave these cooking utensils at the food stall, so you have to bring them with you every time, right? Then it would be impossible without a cart! I also have to bring additional ingredients.
I'll bring the cooking utensils to Ronnie's house in a cart, and have Ronnie go home after school, pick up the cart, and head to the food stall. It would be perfect if you could buy ingredients at the market along the way.
For that, I have to buy a cart.
“Lucien, where can I buy a cart?”
“Why is it suddenly a cart?”
“I have to carry this cooking utensil to the stall every time.”
"Now that I think about it...I'm sure there's some extra carts in the mansion. We could use that."
"Eh!? Is it okay?"
“Oh, it’s not that expensive, right?”
"thank you!"
it was good! I'm happy to be able to save even a little money. It's costing me more money than I expected.
“Next time we’re going to the market, so it’s okay, right?”
"Yeah!"
After that, I rode the carriage for a while and arrived at the market. Even though it's called a market, it's a market located in the center of the city, so there are many expensive items being sold and many beautiful shops.
Additionally, many normal markets don't allow horse-drawn carriages to enter, but this one is large enough for a horse-drawn carriage. I'm currently opening the window of the carriage and examining the shop.
“Ah, could you please stop the carriage here?”
I said that to the coachman. There was a store that sold flour and a store that seemed to sell seasonings.
I'm the only one in the market because Lucien can't get off for safety reasons. I came straight from school today because Jack wasn't there. When I asked before if it was okay to go and return without an escort, I was told that it was okay because the coachman was a very strong escort.
"Then I'll go."
"Oh, be careful."
I got off the carriage and first looked at the flour shop. Hmm, there's only one type of flour after all. There must have been soft flour and strong flour in Japan...
Well, even if there were several types here, it wouldn't change because I wouldn't know the difference.
“Excuse me, please give me a bag of flour.”
"Yes. One copper coin."
"with this"
"Thanks"
Next is a seasoning shop. Oh! There's oil, salt, vinegar, and even honey! It's a hit shop.
"Excuse me. I'd like a bottle each of oil, vinegar, and honey, and a bag each of salt and sugar."
"wait a minute"
"got it"
"Well, a bottle each of oil, vinegar, and honey, and a bag each of sugar and salt... nine copper coins."
"Yes. Is it okay if I have one silver coin?"
"No problem"
“Then please take this.”
"Yes. Well, I'll give you one copper coin as change. Thank you."
Wow... it's really heavy...
I managed to lift everything and returned to the carriage.
"Phew, that was heavy..."
"It's because they buy it because they're greedy."
"Because...I thought it was an afterthought since we were selling it together."
Lucien looks shocked. I'm not that sad of a child! It was just a small mistake!
"Let's go next time! Coachman, please move on!"
"I got it"
After this, I bought eggs, butter, pork, and vegetables. For vegetables, I wanted to buy lettuce, but it seems like it's not harvest time yet, so I decided on cabbage instead. It's best to buy what's in season at that time.
“Did you buy everything with this?”
“I think this is okay for now!”
"I see, then let's go back to the mansion."
"Yeah! Thank you for being with me."
I'm a little tired, but I have to make a prototype when I get home. There's only about two hours left until dinner, so we have to hurry!
