Boundary Labyrinth and the Foreign Magician. C133

133 Great rotten lake

Walk along the shore and walk towards the thin piece of land that stretches across the lake.

That narrow road connects the islands dotted around the lake. We decided to choose an appropriate path from among them and proceed deeper.

There are some islands that are completely isolated with no roads connected to them, but it is troublesome that treasure chests are only placed in those places.

In order to retrieve the treasure chest, you may have to leave the scaffolding and move through the swamp. Because there are many enemies located only in such places.

Securing visibility will also be an issue for this section. There was a mist-like substance all over the place, and even with night vision magic, visibility wasn't good. However, it is best to avoid using torches or magic lights as they will make the enemies above come alive.

In the end, it's safe to proceed here with night vision magic, so I used magic on my companions in advance.

"You said it was a lake, but...it's a swamp."

"How deep is the water?"

“It’s deep…I think it’s about as deep as my waist.”

In most places, it would be a little above the knee for an adult male.

If you get stuck in the mud, your movement will slow down, and there are enemies even in the mud. If you are drawn into it, the entire area is a poisonous swamp, which is very dangerous.

“You said it was dangerous when crossing narrow roads and inside the lake, right?”

"Yes. As I said during the meeting, be careful above and below your feet."

Sludgeman attacks from the mud. A human-faced insect flyhead attacks from the darkness above. You will fight anywhere in this area through the Great Ruin Lake.

In any case, I don't have any intention of directly conquering it since I'm using walking on water and moving in the air... but at first I'm just looking at the opponent's nature and how to deal with it, so I'm currently moving at low altitude over a narrow road.

I think normal exploration will be similar to this, since you will be attacked by enemies even if you get too high.

"From above, enemy"

It's an attack from the side that said it. A short warning from Sheila. Because odor is blocked, olfactory detection cannot be used. So, Sheila and Lavine's hearing and Irmhild's temperature sensing will be our detection sensors.

As expected, it came. It was a group of flyheads that glided down from overhead with almost no sound. It's about the size of a soccer ball.

Even though it's a human face, it's not that vivid. It has an exoskeleton that looks like a face, and if I were to compare it to a Heike crab, it would have a human face. Still, it's creepy enough because it's a place.

The things to watch out for are the mandibles and needles. Since it has paralyzing poison and blood-sucking attacks, it will be quite troublesome if it is stopped by Sludgeman or if it is poisoned without realizing it.

"go"

As soon as I said that, Sheila kicked the air and moved to intercept. Every time the cutlass captured from the Nautilus emits a pearlescent sparkle, her fly head breaks in two and falls into the poisonous swamp.

Grace follows. Sheila kicks the flyhead in the air and escapes at high speed. Grace was replaced and became the avant-garde to fill the void.

Grace uses the belly of her ax to mow down the fly heads that missed the timing of their attack. It is truly powerful as it can shatter multiple bodies into tiny pieces without worrying about air resistance.

Marlene holds her thin sword towards the sky. The saucer flew through the air as if spinning, spinning at high speed and scattering the fly heads that were trying to attack Sheila and Grace from behind.

There is not just one saucer. Just when the saucer seemed to block the flyhead that was about to head towards Marlene, a Dullahan appeared from a magic circle floating in the sky. At the same time, he swings his great sword and crushes it.

“What about stripping?”

Sheila glanced at the fly head for a moment, perhaps concerned about the fly head that was being knocked down and sinking into the swamp.

"Don't worry about it. It's not worth the effort to recover the ones that sunk. Let's just recover the ones that fell on land."

"roger that"

Answer briefly and chop up the enemy in the air. Sheila's weapon has changed from a dagger to a cutlass...but since the blade is lightweight and has considerable sharpness, it can be said that her reach has increased while keeping the number of moves the same.

“There you are.”

It seems that the enemy is approaching on the ground. Irmhild prepares an arrow and shoots it into the swamp. Then, from the swamp where he was hit, Sludgeman jumped out with an arrow still stuck in his head.

It's a monster with a tar-like body. Close to humanoid. It has a design that looks like a dome-shaped, rounded head attached to the shoulder area.

Sludgeman's attack is basically an ambush or sneaking up on him and then grabbing him.

It is strong and has high durability. However, since they are slow to move, they set up ambushes... From the point of view of Irmhild, who can detect them through temperature sensing, it may be an easy opponent to deal with.

However, Sludgeman has extremely strong resistance to status abnormalities. Please note that attacks such as poison, paralysis, and confusion will not work on you.

Irmhild fires arrows one after another. The surrounding Sludgeman who is hiding is frozen, and even the area around Sludgeman who stands up is frozen, blocking his movement. Ashley's water cutter cut it into pieces.

It's good cooperation. It can be detected regardless of poor visibility, so there is no problem with both ground and air attacks.

First of all, let's take care of the sludgemen who are struggling to survive.

"Thundercloud!"

A dark, electrically charged cloud caresses the surface of the Great Ruin Lake. The sludgemen who were caught up in the process were hit with a powerful lightning strike, killing them all in one fell swoop.

HM. Judging from Sludgeman's durability, it seems best for me to intercept him on the ground side.

Then, from the other side of the swamp, I saw a giant crocodile standing upright, holding a club and coming towards me.

Rotondile. It is a crocodile monster with poison resistance that can adapt to the Great Ruin Lake. Among the monsters that appear in the Great Ruin Lake, it can be said to be a relatively big one.

They are placed at strategic points, and their behavior pattern is to move to intercept when they get close. There may also be a treasure chest nearby. Remember the direction you came from.

"That's me. Everyone fights and moves to the first island. We form a circle and intercept them."

After giving instructions, he kicks the air and rushes towards the rotundile. A forceful swing that seems to match.

He uses a club to roll up mud and use it as a blinder and shield. When I break through with the shield and rush in, it hits me, aiming for my head, as if it had been waiting for me. Avoid the club by jumping sideways and shoot a fireball at it.

This one uses the blast as a cover to charge in. Then, a club swinging wildly approached from diagonally below.

Block it with your shield and jump as if riding on a club.

still--. Rotondile has a hidden gem called the shock wave caused by its roar. A blow from its fangs and tail is also a threat. So first of all, block the attack from the fangs.

"Light Bind"

They fly overhead, and the moment they pass each other, they release magic as they separate. The aim is the crocodile's head. He was restrained so that his chin was bound. By placing a light bind in front of them that emits light at the same time, it is used as a blinding device.

Rotondile, who had lost sight of me, was scratching his face in an attempt to escape from Lightbind's restraints. With his superhuman strength, I would be able to escape from his restraints in the near future, but I had already positioned myself behind his head, completely blind.

Turn your body around while killing inertia with levitation. Kick the shield and accelerate with air blast. Charge towards the rotundile below.

Acceleration and impact. A scream of agony. Lightning magic was activated at the same time as the Ouroboros horn pierced the brain. A lightning strike seared Rotondile's skull.

Transforms in the air and floats near the surface of the lake. When I looked over my shoulder, I saw Rotondile slumping, losing all his strength and collapsing.

If you just fall down, you'll be buried in the mud. He used Levitation to make it float, and carried it to the island where everyone else was to be stripped. It looks like the other side has also been roughly cleaned up.

"I easily defeated Rotondile... I already knew that, but unless you're a high-level Guardian, it won't even be a match."

Claudia says in shock.

“It’s easy to do things like that, where you rely on your physical strength.”

If you fight normally, the footing on the Great Ruined Lake is bad, so Rotondile, who is basically pushing with force, can be a front-line fighter. As someone like me who is fighting at low altitude, it doesn't really matter.

 Now. Let's strip it off.

“What can this lizardman-like creature harvest?”

Irmhild asks.

"The skin becomes a processed product. We can make leather equipment that is resistant to corrosion."

Regarding Rotondile, I wonder if there are any places where we can expect some kind of equipment. The armor is fairly well stocked though.

“What about the fly head?”

"Collect the poison bag and get the paralyzing poison. Sludgeman... blood can be used as medicine."

"……medicine"

Sheila makes a strange expression. I understand how she feels.

"That's right. The reason why he remains calm even when he is underwater in a poisonous swamp is because he has a strong resistance to poison. That's why his blood can be processed into a powerful antidote."

Is it okay to sell Sludgeman's materials...? There is a clear blood magic tool, and if you know the actual item, there will be some resistance.

The price is reasonable, so it's not bad in terms of earning money. However, since the surface has to be cleaned with water magic, it is a bit troublesome to strip it off.

"Ah. Also, there might be a treasure chest nearby. Rotondile is in charge of defending the base, so...umm. Is that where he came from?"

"Then, I'll look into it with Ilm."

Seraphina and Irmhild look at each other and smile. Irmhild strikes the string in the direction I indicated, and Seraphina collects the sound that spreads and reflects.

Seraphina seemed to be analyzing the sound magic she had collected for a while, but then she looked up and pointed into the darkness.

"Over there. There's something square."

When we all flew at low altitude in the direction Seraphina indicated, we found a treasure chest placed in the middle of a small piece of land.

There were only places that weren't blessed with treasure chests, such as the Twilight Forest and the water of the Magical Water Vein.

In addition, there is a tendency for people to avoid the Great Ruin Lake. As for the treasure chest, it will probably be untouched. Here's what I'm looking forward to seeing inside.
