Boundary Labyrinth and the Foreign Magician. C152

152 Before completion

Alright. The small decorations here and there have been completed, and it is now quite visible.

Alfred and Viola are currently working hard on the stage equipment inside the theater, but...I don't want them to overdo it too much. For now, I'll give you some potions later.

Irmhild's concert. It was decided that this would be held on the next full moon day, once preparations were complete. On this day, there will be no one to dive into the labyrinth, so there will be no work for Justia and Dominic.

The remaining problem is how to use this theater other than for the girls' concerts. Both me and the girls have other things to do, so we can't just go to the theater all the time. Unless it's something related to the three of us's concerts, I'm going to leave it to others.

So...King Melvin and Auria came to the theater to take a preview of the completed theater and to talk about it.

“I said I would do it once the materials arrived, but I never expected to be able to make something like this in such a short amount of time…”

"I watched it during construction, and it was incredibly fast."

After looking around the theater, King Melvin came into the entrance and let out a voice of admiration. Auria also smiled bitterly at King Melvin's words.

“Then come here.”

Guide King Melvin to the terrace seat on the second floor. This is a place that is planned to be a VIP seat. Looking down into the theater from there――King Melvin opened his eyes.

On the stage--Alfred and Viola set up magic tools and repeated trial runs and adjustments, while Irmhild and the others made the sounds of their instruments and singing voices echo.

"……That is?"

King Melvin listened to the singing voice for a while and watched Alfred and his friends work intently, and then he started asking various questions about the stage equipment.

“I thought it could be used for production. The paper at the back of the stage is actually going to be white cloth.”

Until the Horizont curtain arrives, I'm making a large piece of white paper and lighting it up as a substitute, but...I think that's enough as a substitute. Blowing bubbles and illuminating them with colorful lights, guiding and manipulating the bubbles with wind magic...this area is starting to take shape.

I think that once the stage curtains and carpets arrive, it will look more glamorous and look more like a theater.

"Hmm...this surprised me. The concert is going to be really exciting."

“I hope you are successful.”

Well, King Melvin was captivated by their performance. she isn't too worried.

“Wouldn’t it be better if we left the advertising and ticket sales to the guild?”

"That's my intention."

I will leave the practical matters to those with the know-how.

"Hmm...Then just make sure you report your income and expenditures."

"Okay. It's for something other than the girls' concert..."

King Melvin asks, looking somewhat amused.

"Do you have any ideas?"

"I'm thinking of renting it out to musicians and opera writers and charging them a fee for using it. I hope it gets off the ground."

"There's no one who wouldn't jump at that. It's actually a good idea."

King Melvin smiled bitterly. Since his theater itself has state-of-the-art equipment... he's thinking of checking out the musicians and playwrights first, and inviting some of them to a concert.

It would be a blessing if they liked it. It would be great if it would help promote the arts, but I don't have my hopes too high.

"But, that's right. Until things get back on track, I think it would be fine to mobilize the court musicians during the vacant dates."

I see. Then you can rest assured. Irmhild and the others can't perform every day either.

“In any case, I think we will soon be flooded with applications to use the theater.”

"I guess."

King Melvin and Auria looked at each other and laughed with dark smiles, thinking that they would make enough money from the rental fees and admission fees. Both of them seemed strangely confident of success.

Other details will be finalized.

"It's entertainment for the people. The admission fee can't be that high."

“Then, I wonder if the rental fee should be adjusted accordingly.I think it would be a good idea to change the price depending on the location of the seat.”

“What do you mean?”

"The prices are a little higher for seats with a good view of the stage and the terraces on the first and second floors."

Well, it's like S seat and A seat.

The profits earned in this way will be distributed to the performers' remuneration, employee labor costs, maintenance and management costs, and related parties such as myself and the Breitwelt workshop, as well as the adventurer's guild.

Well...plans are plans after all. What a raccoon dog you can't catch. I can't say anything because it depends on the profit...

"This is His Majesty the King..."

While we were discussing various things, Penelope, the head shrine maiden, showed up at the theater. He noticed us on the second floor terrace from the audience seats in the theater and was awed.

"Mikoto-dono, huh? Why don't you come here?"

"Yes. Well then, please excuse me."

At King Melvin's urging, Penelope goes up to the terrace seat on the second floor.

“What happened?”

``When I told everyone about Mr. Theodore's story, I was told that I would like to do something in return for your kindness. While you are working here, I would like to help you eat and take care of your surroundings.'' Now that we've talked about it, I would like permission for the shrine maidens to enter the theater, if you don't mind.''

"Really? That would be helpful."

In reply, Penelope shows a gentle smile.

“Ah, I’m talking about profit distribution…”

It would be perfect if Penelope came. Let's get through the story here.

"HM"

“I would like to give back my share to the orphanage.”

When I said that, Penelope's eyes widened in surprise.

"No, no. Theodore-sama. You don't have to go that far."

"No, it's just something we had in mind. We'd like the children at the orphanage to be taught reading, writing, arithmetic, and other skills that might be useful. I'm sure that would be beneficial for Irmhild and the others. Because it’s supposed to be.”

I'm not saying that they don't have empathy, but it's not like they have simple good intentions either.

The purpose of the theater is to improve the status of the monster girls and create a place for the residents of Claudia's labyrinth village. And securing Grace's position.

Therefore, by supporting orphanages, we would like to strengthen basic education such as reading, writing, and arithmetic for children.

It's a bit of an exaggeration to talk about human resource development, but... I hope that people with understanding will be able to play an active role in various places in the Term Wills and the Verdogar Kingdom in the future. I'm sure it will work positively for my purpose later on.

If you think about what you'll do after you leave the orphanage, it's possible to be hired for work related to theaters, for example... There are many dreams that can expand, but there are limits to what you can cover.

"I'd like some of you to brew some dirt from your nails and drink it. It's my job to raise talented juniors. Let me help you with that."

King Melvin grins.

Penelope bent her knees and respectfully bowed to King Melvin and me.

Some people are...like Marquis Broderick. Various evidence is being gathered, so a verdict on the Marquis and his son Norman will be heard before long.

"Now that we've settled on the matter...how about some ice cream?"

"Huh. Ice candy?"

Viola is also busy, so she hasn't gotten to the point where she can make a shaved ice machine yet...but she already has an ice room, and if she uses magic to shave the ice, she can make something close to the finished product.

Ask everyone to take a break as well. I moved to the shop and used magic to shave ice and put it in a wooden bowl. Just pour fruit-colored syrup on top and you're done. Several types of syrup are available.

“Isn’t that the shaved ice you were talking about, Theo?”

"Yeah. I'd like to put the tools to make this in a kiosk and sell it at the theater."

So it's tasting time.

"Ho-ho-ho"

The one that had a particularly good bite was Auria. She seems very curious as she scoops it up with a spoon and brings it to her mouth.

"This... it's sweet, fluffy, and cold... hmmm... hmmm. It looks cool..."

"If you eat iced sweets too quickly..."

"Mmm...!"

It's not something I won't say. Auria is holding her temple. She's an elf, a guild leader...despite her titles, she doesn't have any dignity.

"This is quite a feat. I wonder if this will go on sale? There are so many rare things in this theater."

"It's sweet and delicious."

King Melvin and Penelope maintained their dignity as expected, but the speed at which they consumed the shaved ice was relatively fast. I don't know if I liked it.

Everyone seems to be enjoying their shaved ice.

Ashley and Marlene were each given shaved ice with different colors of syrup, and they each exchanged a bite...it looked like they were having fun.

“It looks good.”

Grace smiled. She was the one who mixed the syrup. I guess he was curious about everyone's reaction.

It doesn't feel bad. Wouldn't it be nice to have a drink afterwards?

Hmm. Wouldn't it be possible to create something like carbonated water by combining wind magic and water magic? Would you like to try it later?
