My Reincarnation Skills Are “Playing With Dolls” and “Playing With Clay”, but What Am I Supposed to Do With These? C170

Episode 170 Kingdom of Algol

“In the Kingdom of Algol, Giberias is a city with more history than the current capital of Castilia, so I would like to spend a few days researching the literature here...”

After a very long conversation with Professor Behanam, we discussed our current policy.

Maggie and Butch spend several days in Giberias, which was originally the ancient capital of Algol, researching historical materials from academia, visiting experts, and examining ancient documents preserved in the many temples. The idea was that I wanted to.

Since there isn't much danger in Academia or the city, we decided to split the escort group into two groups and head to the adventurer's guild.

After having a sumptuous breakfast at a stylish cafe that looks like a high-end inn, today I decided to ask Nolte to accompany Lina as an escort for Mag & Buchi.

Lucien, Carmilla, and I go to the Adventurer's Guild, which we only briefly visited yesterday, to gather more information.

The guild is located at the back of a street near the market and workshop district down the hill, consisting of a large three-story brick main building and a tower soaring high.

When I went inside, it was a little after the dawn ordering time, but there were still dozens of adventurers.

According to a quick look, the average level is around 10, and there are a few senior positions here and there. It's a big city after all. It's on a level close to Deva or Paltepolis.

There's nothing particularly eye-catching about the monster subjugation requests posted on the quest bulletin board.

There seem to be some labyrinths, but I don't find them strange.

Looking at the escort requests, as one would expect from a port town, there are not only requests for escorts for commercial caravans on land routes, but also requests for escorts for ships and fishermen.

“However, if an ordinary fisherman goes out of his way to hire an escort and take him on a boat, even if he can catch a fish, I wonder if he will be able to get his money back...”

Lucien reacted to my casual words.

"Well, I don't often hear of ordinary fishing boats hiring escorts, but...ah, around here, hmm..."

I was thinking about something while comparing it to the map posted on the wall.

“I wonder if a large fishing fleet that goes out to sea in a fairly distant place, and a ship that goes in a certain direction, needs an escort…maybe it’s just my imagination.”

Moreover, for an escort quest, the required level is quite high, with everyone required to be LV10 or higher, and the party to be LV40 or higher.

I guess there are still requests because the reward is relatively low. I don't think fishermen can pay such a high amount of money.

I was curious, so I asked at the quest reception desk, and it turned out there was a reason. Recently, it seems that four fishing boats have gone missing one after another in those waters.

And once, when a party with a wizard boarded the ship as an escort, they sensed that there was something like a barrier on the sea.

"However, they came back without encountering any monsters or any danger, so I don't really know what's going on."

The man at the counter was skeptical, and seemed to think there was a higher possibility that we were being attacked by some sort of large shark or monster.

“Why would you want to hire an escort to go to such a dangerous fishing area?”

It doesn't seem like a very profitable catch.

“Well, recently the tides have changed, and there seem to be more fish in that direction. So, the people who are requesting escorts are representatives of each fishermen's union, and in addition to the boats carrying the escorts. It looks like a lot of boats are going out fishing together.

Is that so? Fishermen alone can't make ends meet, but they are hired by groups such as fishermen's cooperatives.

When I listened carefully, I learned that one of the ship owners who had made the request this time was the one that carried the magician's party, so I decided to accept the escort request from that ship.

"You guys seem to be curious even though you're from another country. Well, we can help, but..."

Tonight, one minute after the midnight bell, I was asked to visit a veteran fisherman named Bonde on a fishing boat called ``Sachimaru'' at the fishing port.

If they couldn't find an escort, they didn't want to be found, and it seemed like they were planning to go fishing with a group of union boats.

We went to buy equipment that would be useful when riding on a fishing boat or in a water battle, and stored it in the item box.

After that, I still had time to go back to the hotel, so I decided to check the location of the fishing port.

After all, the port here is vast. I want to put some light on before it gets dark.

The fishing port was about 2km away from the commercial port where we got off the ship.

There were countless fishing boats lined up, some as large as Sengoku-bune, and others as small as the rowboats in the park's pond.

I'm glad I came here once.

It would be impossible to suddenly find a fishing boat among these in the middle of the night.

When I asked the man who appeared to be a fisherman who was mending his nets, he told me that although he didn't know Yukimaru's name, he did know the name of the association to which the boat owner belonged, and that the mooring locations for fishing boats are determined by each association. .

After searching around for a while, I came to a place where quite large fishing boats were lined up.

I see, fishing boats that go far away are really big.

Well, it's a fishing boat that can accommodate quite a lot of people, like the ones I saw on the news about pole-and-line fishing for skipjack tuna.

Maybe if the ship was a little bigger it would shake less, so that would be helpful as well.

Today, most of the fishermen have probably finished their fishing and pulled the fish home.

As I walked through the uninhabited mooring area, I found a dilapidated but slightly larger ship with the name ``Yukimaru'' written on it.

I felt a little disappointed that if I had brought Lina with me, she would have been made to register here for transfer.

***********************

In the evening, I connected with Lina by long distance, met up with Nolte, Maggie, and the others, had dinner in the city, and then returned to the inn.

``Bokyo no Yakata'' is a high-class inn, so the food is excellent, but the customers around me are mostly aristocrats and wealthy people, and I don't get along well with everyone eating while chatting with each other.

I wanted to enjoy the atmosphere of the city I visited for the first time, so I decided to eat out sometimes.

Maggie and the others visited not only the Academia archives but also the three temples in the city to investigate old books and folklore, but unfortunately they couldn't seem to find any historical materials that seemed to be related to demons.

However, there seems to be a fairly famous legend that a luxury passenger ship that left this port over a hundred years ago was attacked by pirates and turned into a ghost ship.

That's Maretta-san's story, right?

She was an aristocrat from the time when this area was the capital of Algol, and although the mansion of her family no longer exists, she seems to know where the remains of the mansion are located.

I think I'll go visit you sometime soon.

When we talked about the disappearances at sea and the barrier that we had received at the guild, the reactions were mixed.

Butch doesn't seem to be very interested, so I think I'll continue my investigation in the city tomorrow.

It certainly doesn't seem like it's related to demons, and it's hard to say it's from the sea or the mountains, but... no, it's definitely from the sea.

On the other hand, it seems that something is wrong with Maggie.

"Honestly, I feel sorry for the fishing boat that was in trouble, but I don't think it was an accident, but the barrier? That's confusing to me."

When he said that, Maggie seemed to have a strangely good intuition, and I felt like I should look into it.

In the end, it was decided that tomorrow, or rather starting tonight, everyone would participate in escorting the fishing fleet.

It seems that fishing for a fish called tona can take two or three days depending on how you find the school of fish, so I go to tell the gentleman who works at the front desk of the inn to tell him about it.

I decided to check out tomorrow, packed my luggage that wasn't necessary for the quest into my backpack, and left it at the inn.

By the time we sorted our luggage and wiped ourselves with hot water, it was already quite late.

"I'm leaving in the middle of the night, so I need to go to bed early."

It's just as Maggie said. I'll probably only be able to sleep for 3 or 4 hours now.

Still, everyone fell asleep quickly on the fluffy beds of the luxury hotel.
