Milimos Saga – The Reincarnation Chronicle of the Youngest Prince. C176 Part1

Short Story Spisk Nomeratsupeik Nonette Rescue Team

Inside the empire's camp, a little away from the half-destroyed fortress of the Nonette country, I was thinking of myself -- no, if I were to think about my future strategy, I should probably just think of myself as just a soldier of the empire's army from now on.

Anyway, I was waiting in the tent I had been assigned for the others to gather.

Shortly thereafter, five soldiers enter the tent.

"...Is this everyone?"

The five people who came over spoke back to me in hushed voices as I questioned the number.

"The captain is setting up the net. The other comrades have been asked to widen the net."

"Besides, it's a small country in the mountains after all. With five Imperial Army soldiers who can use magic tools, the plan is as good as a success."

I nod in response to the obvious statement.

“I will rescue the Nomeratspeik family, whose noble lineage has been in the Empire since ancient times, and their daughter, Lady Spisk, from this remote country.”

""Ou""

We let out a muffled scream and left the tent.

The surrounding area is night. Under cover of dusk, we begin to move.

We feared that someone might notice us walking around the camp carrying the familiar items we had used, but we never passed by other soldiers.

On the contrary, I could hear voices that sounded like someone secretly having a drinking party a little far away.

"Come on, if the captain finds out, he's going to make a big deal of it."

"That's fine. The mission is already over, and the soldiers of Nonette country have no desire to fight. In that case, all that's left to do is go home."

"That's right. What do we need to worry about if we get out of control here? Let's have a drink together."

"Oh, that's right. And if you're with me, I'll be keeping an eye on you... No, it's nothing, it's nothing. Ahahaha."

The sounds of soldiers' secret drinking parties.

It seems that the other soldiers are acting as decoys and attracting the attention of the other soldiers in order to hide their movements.

Although I am grateful for their assistance, I decided to move quickly so as not to waste their efforts.

Then, they went outside of their camp and approached the Fortress of Nonette Country, trying to hide in the darkness of the night and making sure not to make any noise.

Normally, it would have been impossible to break into a fortress with tightly closed doors and high walls without making a noise.

But now, half of the outer wall has been destroyed due to the recent military exercise--no, in order to carry out the rescue operation, they intentionally broke it down significantly to make it easier to enter.

By entering the fort through this collapsed part, it will be possible to directly invade Nonette country.

"Listen. From here on out, you'll have to use the collapsed wall as your foothold, but please try not to make as much noise as possible."

“It’s the same with the sound, but we also have to be concerned about the eyes of the soldiers of the Nonette country.”

"Let's proceed carefully."

A soldier with a bow and arrow to silence the guards was placed in the middle of the formation, and they began climbing up the collapsed wall.

I placed my hands and feet on the scattered stones at the front, and moved forward one step at a time, applying a little pressure to see if they would collapse. Those who follow will follow the path he took.

Move slowly so as not to make any noise, but move as fast as possible.

In this way, they were able to advance to the top of the collapsed wall without being judged by the soldiers of the Nonette country.

“What about the surveillance eyes?”

"Not this far. No, it doesn't seem like he's anywhere on the wall..."

Strangely enough, the people from the Nonette country had not set up sentries on the outer wall of the fort.

"Have you lost the will to protect yourself now that half of the wall has collapsed and your defense power is gone?"

“Perhaps they think that if they show themselves defenseless, the Imperial Army will attack.”

“Then, if the invading empire is at fault, you have a good reason to ask for help from the knightly kingdom?”

"Even if the home country of Nonete is defeated, the princes still have their territory. If we hold out there and buy time, the Knights will turn the tables."

I raised my hand to stop my comrades from making speculations.

"In any case, if there is no surveillance, it will be convenient for us. We will take this opportunity to enter Nonette country to rescue Master Spisk."

At the top of the collapsed wall, I checked the contents of the fort.

"Although there is a dormitory where Nonette soldiers sleep, there is no one to watch over the surroundings, and there is no wall beyond the building. You can run all the way to Nonette country in one go."

“Then, from here on out, don’t worry about the noise and just run as fast as you can?”

"Don't stop running, kill any soldiers you come across and move on. We'll reach the royal castle in one go."

They nodded to each other and began sliding down the collapsed wall.

We turned our gaze towards the direction we were supposed to pass through, and the moment our feet touched the ground, we started running with all our might, weapons in hand.

The rattling sounds were starting to get louder and louder, probably due to the stones that were scattered when they slipped down.

They were worried that the soldiers would wake up, but contrary to their expectations, no soldiers appeared in front of them.

It's incomprehensible after inexplicable, but I can't ignore it.

For us, entering Nonette and rescuing Mr. Spisk is our first priority. Everything else is trivial.

We ran inside Nonette's fort and eventually passed the last building.

At that moment, I saw a figure attack me--it was hiding behind the building! ?

“Whoa!?”

I panicked and blocked it with the shield in my left hand. Of course, activate magic.

Normally, due to the barrier magic that appears in front of the shield, the impact of the blow to my hand would not be transmitted.

But this time it was different.

I could hear the sound of the attacker's sword hitting the shield, and at the same time, I felt a numbness in my hand from being hit by the shield.

That's not all. Due to the shield being severely damaged, the pattern on it has been lost, and the barrier's magic has also disappeared.

“You crooks!”

I counterattacked by swinging the sword in my right hand, and the assailant jumped back with an easy movement.

And the attackers are heading towards us.

"I guess the word "crooker" just came up. Isn't that the one who came into the fort?"

The tone and voice I heard somewhere.

By squinting my eyes and glaring into the darkness, I tried to make the assailant's appearance as clear as possible.

This action was worth it, as I was now able to make out the faces of people in the darkness, albeit vaguely.

"...I guess it's Prince Milimos, after all."

The youngest prince of Nonette Country, who was in his mid-teens, stood alone with a thick sword in his right hand and a large diamond-shaped shield in his left.

"You think you can defeat us by yourself?"

"Judging from the response of the current blow, I don't think it's possible. But since we're dealing with a deserter, I don't feel like going on an adventure."

When Prince Milimos raised his sword, they heard a noise behind them.

Immediately, they deployed to protect each other's backs.

"My back is surrounded by Nonette soldiers."

"Soldiers appeared from behind the rocks behind Prince Milimos."

It seems that they are completely surrounded.
