Milimos Saga – The Reincarnation Chronicle of the Youngest Prince. C176 Part2

Episode 176 Part 2: Eliminating deserters

Six imperial soldiers entered the fort as advised by Lieutenant Carreria.

As I had told the Nonette soldiers in advance, I carried out a strategy to lure them deep into the fort, and once they were stopped by the attack, I would surround them with Nonette soldiers.

Although my plan was almost a success, I couldn't let my guard down.

After all, even though there were only six opponents, they were imperial soldiers with magic tools for battle.

“If you come home quietly, I’ll miss it, okay?”

I tried to say it in a gentle tone so as not to get on the other person's nerves, but on the contrary, it seems that the imperial soldiers looked down on me.

"Even if 50 weak soldiers gather together, they are not our enemy!"

The weapons and armor of the imperial soldiers begin to glow faintly. I guess they activated the magic effects of their equipment.

The power of that weapon is well known as the fort was destroyed during a military exercise.

That's probably why. The Nonette soldiers were looking a little timid, if not timid.

I have given the Nonette soldiers the shields and weapons made by the research department that I brought from the Roccia region, but their effectiveness is still being tested and I haven't been able to get enough of them. As a result, most of the Nonette soldiers were equipped with normal equipment, with only the ``Kushiken'' that had been stored in the fort as an emergency.

Since their equipment is obviously inferior, it can't be helped that they shrink back against the Imperial soldiers.

I have no choice but to bear the brunt here.

"Sentis. I'll leave command to you."

"While Mimo-bo is rampaging, surround them and attack if you have a chance. Leave it to me."

I approach the imperial soldier with the magic tool iron shield in my left hand and the steel sword made by the research department in my right hand. Since the previous blow, he has already continued to strengthen his body with divine magic.

"I'll say it again. If you leave now, I'll pretend there was no trespassing. What's your response?"

When I stopped in a position where I could slash with one foot, one of the imperial soldiers--the one who was standing next to Lieutenant Carreriara--immediately retorted.

“Of course—I’ll push through!”

“Charge with sword drawn!”

Some imperial soldiers carry axes, spears, and bows, so it's not a ``drawn sword'', is it?

While complaining in my mind, I also took action to deal with the six Imperial soldiers who were charging at me all at once.

There's no time to cast spells at this close range.

I have no choice but to hold it back with my physical strength, which has been greatly increased by divine magic.

"Let me go!"

I raised my left shield and lunged at the spear holder at the front of the imperial soldiers.

“Such a stupid shield!”

The imperial soldiers reacted immediately and thrust out their spears. Magical light at the tip. Judging from the appearance of punching through the wall of a fort during a military exercise, it must be magic that strengthens the penetration power.

Seeing the tip approaching, I released the sacred magic on my left arm. By channeling the magical power that can now be manipulated after the influence of divine magic has disappeared into the shield of the magic tool in his left hand, he manifests the magic of the barrier.

Immediately, a translucent plate appeared above the face of the shield and caught the imperial soldier's spear.

“Is it a magic shield!?”

While listening to the voices of the surprised Imperial soldiers and the sound of the spear and shield colliding, I checked on the condition of the shield.

The tip of the spear had penetrated the magical barrier, but it hit the shield and stopped.

Perhaps the magical penetrating effect of the spear was lost when it pierced the barrier of the shield, and the spear struck the shield in an almost natural state.

Deciding to do a detailed examination later, I reactivated the sacred technique on my left arm. The shield's magical barrier disappeared as I was no longer able to manipulate magic power again, but I used the physical strength I had gained through divine magic to raise the shield and deflect the spear held by the imperial soldier.

"Oooooooo!?"

The imperial soldier holding the spear threw his head back in shock from the impact. However, the Imperial soldiers who followed pushed on its back and prevented it from turning over.

This instantly rendered the two imperial soldiers unable to take action.

And now, the only people who can attack me are the ax and sword holders who were deployed to the left and right behind the spear holder, and the bow holder at the back.

First, two people, one with an ax and the other with a sword, attack me.

"Prince Milimos!"

“Prepare!”

A perfectly coordinated attack with precisely trained and sophisticated movements. Considering the magic effect on the sword, an average soldier would probably be defeated by this attack.

But for me, it's not that much.

"You're late!"

Compared to Familisu, his daily training partner, the power and speed of his attacks are not as good. Since I was using sacred magic, it was easy to avoid it.

After taking a step back and letting off the combined attacks of the imperial soldiers, he then steps forward and hits the sword holder with his shield, sending the sword holder flying, and slashes the axe holder horizontally in the abdomen with his steel sword.

It seems that a magic effect was activated on the armor as well, but since the sword had been passed through divine magic, it was easy to cut it in two.

“Goo-”

The axe holder kneels down on the ground, as if holding on to his internal organs spilling out of his stomach.

I heard the sound of the sword holder being blown away, and right after that an arrow came flying at me from the bow holder.

The arrow pierced deeply into the shield I raised, and it stopped when the arrowhead was right in front of me.

“I couldn’t penetrate it with half-pull!”

“But with this, I have lost the magic of the shield!”

Indeed, if an arrow were to penetrate it, the pattern on the shield that was used to manifest magic would have been ruined.

Perhaps anticipating that one of my armors was now useless, four imperial soldiers, including the spear bearer, regained their stance and attacked at once. If things go well, I can see that they intend to use their momentum to break through me.

"I'm sorry to be so enthusiastic, but I don't usually use a shield."

I only used it because I wanted to test whether the defense power of the shield made by the research department would hold up against the top magic tools in this world, which are the weapons of imperial soldiers.

Now that you know how effective it is, there's no need to be particular about having it.

I throw the shield with the arrow stuck in it at the imperial soldier using my arm, which has been strengthened with divine magic. The target is the spear holder in front of me.

“Again!”

It seems like he blocked the shield I threw at him with his spear, but his stance suddenly collapsed.

I didn't miss that opportunity and thrust my sword at the spear holder. The tip of the steel sword penetrates the part of the face not covered by the helmet, and the spear bearer bends his knees as if he has lost his strength.

I kick the spear holder in the stomach and pull the sword out of his face. As the Imperial soldiers that followed quickly dodged themselves, the spear holders who kicked them away were unable to break their stance.

“Cooperation takes a lot of skill, though.”

As I learned from the previous military exercise, the strength of the imperial soldiers is their magic tools and cooperation that makes use of their numbers.

The movements of the imperial soldiers are so agile and sophisticated that even I, who use divine magic, would have lost without training with my family.

However, due to their nature, the threat level of imperial soldiers decreases the more their numbers are reduced.

The number of Imperial soldiers I just defeated was three in total, two sword bearers and one bow bearer, including the sword bearer who fell down and did not get back up.

If the number of people was halved, the threat level of the imperial soldiers would also drop to less than half.

"Also, using magic tools doesn't make you physically stronger, so your attack speed is normal!"

Compared to the slashing attacks of Familias delivered at dizzying speed, the movements of the imperial soldiers were as if they had stopped.

The only thing I had to be wary of was the bowman who was shooting arrows at tremendous speed, but since I had just cut him down, he was no longer a threat.

There are two people left.

Then one of them started a spitting match with me.

"Prince Milimos will be stopped! So hurry!"

“I asked for it!”

The other soldier, who was a close aide to Lieutenant Caleriara, passed me and started running along the route out of the fort.

“Wait, you mean, you can’t blow me away with a spittle fight!?”

"We're also training against knight nations! There's a way to compete with opponents who use sacred magic!"

When I tried to blow it away with all my might, the imperial soldiers cleverly let the force escape. When I tried to draw my sword, this time he came to press the blade against me with his whole body.

The Imperial soldiers don't leave each other, as if they were dancing or doing judo kumite.

If this continues, there's a risk that another person will break through the fort.

Those concerns were dispelled by Sentis's loud voice.

"Back away! If you back away, you won't get hurt--"

"Let me go!"

As the imperial soldiers tried to break through while waving their weapons, Sentis threw something stick-shaped from the side diagonally - a sword with its sheath. The sheathed sword gets stuck between the moving legs of the imperial soldiers and obstructs their movements.

“-Guoah!?”

The imperial soldier's legs got tangled and he fell, rolling on the ground with the momentum of his running.

However, these were trained Imperial soldiers. He immediately stands up and tries to resume his sprint.

Sentis ran up to him and kicked him in the face.

"Not yet! Gather around, you guys!"

Approximately ten Nonette soldiers responded to Sentis' call and rushed towards the Imperial soldier who had fallen to the ground again, stabbing him with the swords and skewers in their hands. It seemed like he was able to withstand several stabs due to the effects of the armor of the magic tool, but he was pushed through by the numbers.

"Well, you're the only one left?"

I asked him if he would surrender, but the eyes of the imperial soldier who was fighting with me showed that he had a desperate intention.

 I can't help it.

I quickly let go of the sword with my left hand, pulled out the dagger with the knight royal family crest that I usually wear on my waist, and slashed the imperial soldier's arm.

"Gah..."

The moment the imperial soldiers were unable to skillfully engage in a clash due to the pain, I pushed the steel sword in with my right hand and placed the dagger in my left hand against the back of the sword and pressed it firmly.

The imperial soldiers were unable to restore the once tilted balance, and the steel sword blade reached their necks. Just like that, the flesh of his neck began to be torn apart, and eventually the blade reached his carotid artery.

Blood splashed from the wound on his neck, and the imperial soldier's body lost strength in proportion to the amount of blood gushing out.

After about a minute, the imperial soldier's face turned pale and his breath turned into that of an insect, and he fell on his back to the ground.

It might be possible to save his life if he stitches up the wound on his neck now, but this Imperial soldier probably won't want that.

I used a steel sword to cut the imperial soldier's neck in half to finish him off.
